After three years of work Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen finished their researchproject, investigating 450 drawings from the 15th and 16th century for the first time. The outcomes are now visible on their special website covering specifically early Dutch and Flemish draftsmanship. With this new development Boijmans makes this part of their collection digitally accessible. Most important; it is permanently, making it a very useful site for those who are doing research on this subject.
The results of the project showed that of the 403 sheets 224 are still by unidentified artists, the others are now ascribed to 63 masters, like for example, Goltzius, Bloemaert (see above), De Gheyn, Van Heemskerck, Van Mander and even Bosch. But there are a handful of other names as well, like for example the ones of: Albrecht Dürer, Francesco Salviati and Panvinio Onofrio. With their fine high resolution images and extensive artist biographies it is very useful and has great possibilities. The Dutch Mondriaan Fund was used to make this digitization project possible. A great new source of information. See the website and discover yourself.
